About Richmond Rising

Richmond Rising is supported by the California Strategic Growth Council’s Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Program (TCC).

TCC was created to fund the development and implementation of neighborhood-level transformative climate community plans that include multiple coordinated greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects that provide local economic, environmental and health benefits to disadvantaged communities.

The California Strategic Growth Council is a council made up of seven state agencies and three public members with the mission to build healthy, thriving, and resilient communities for all. Since 2008, SGC has invested over $2 billion in projects that strengthen communities and address climate change.

Strategies

Using the following strategies, Richmond Rising works to protect and empower the city and its residents:

Transit Access and Mobility

Home Water Efficiency

.

Urban Greening

Health and Well-Being Through Parks and Healthy Food

Projects range from constructing new bike lanes to installing residential solar power systems, and from planting trees to furthering workforce development and job training programs, starting in Fall 2023 with funding through Summer 2028.

Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Grant Program

Richmond Rising is supported by California Strategic Growth Council’s Transformative Climate Communities Program. The California Strategic Growth Council’s (SGC) Transformative Climate Communities Program (TCC) empower the communities most impacted by pollution to choose their own goals, strategies, and projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and local air pollution. Administered in partnership with the California Department of Conservation, TCC funds community-led development and infrastructure projects that achieve major environmental, health, and economic benefits in California’s most disadvantaged communities.
