The UC Berkeley Center for Global Healthy Cities team has published its Year 1 Evaluation Report, documenting progress from August 2023 to July 2024 across transformative climate and community resilience projects in Richmond’s Iron Triangle, Santa Fe, and Coronado neighborhoods.
Led by UC Berkeley’s Center for Global Healthy Cities, this report tracks the first year of implementation across 10 integrated projects focused on urban greening, renewable energy, mobility, food justice, and workforce development.
Highlights include:
-
- Planting of 76 urban trees and distribution of 400 fruit trees
-
- Launch of 70 e-bikes and 8 bike hubs across the project area
-
- Distribution of over 3,300 Veggie Rx food boxes
-
- Delivery of health education through 77 HEAT sessions and 524 medical visits
-
- Installing solar in 6 low-income households
-
- Engagement of over 9,000 residents through events and outreach
The report also includes early findings on greenhouse gas reductions, air quality improvements, and workforce opportunities created by Richmond Rising projects. These accomplishments were made possible through a collaborative approach with community-based organizations and local residents.
